The big eclipse has come an gone, and the US power grid seemed to pass the test with flying colors. Lots of preparation by utilities took place before the event (see my earlier blogpost here.), and it seems to have paid off. All reports say there were no problems, though the weather was very cooperative. The chart below shows he dramatic impact the eclipse had on generation in California.

The next eclipse for the US takes place in 2024, and it follows the path shown in the map below. All forecasts point to there being much more installed solar capacity in seven years, so there could still be some new challenges ahead for the industry.
